PILATES IS FOR MEN AS WELL
Are they too macho for Pilates?
Try telling that to the New Zealand All Blacks who include Pilates as part of their fitness program (click on the picture to see how impressive they are on the field!). Or to the New Jerseys Nets (NBA). Or to the Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL)

Many famous male professional athletes, such as Tiger Woods (professional golfer), Jason Kidd (NBA basketball star), Curt Schilling (MLB pitcher) and Ruben Brown (NFL offensive lineman), have added Pilates to their training programs, in order to enhance their strength, coordination and flexibility. Don't forget that Joseph Pilates himself was a boxer and self-defense instructor.

It's interesting to note that legendary German heavyweight boxer, Max Schmelling, was also a regular at Joseph Pilates' New York studio. More recently, 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward integrated Pilates in his training. “I use Pilates to strengthen my core, which creates balance and leads to velocity”.

But the best news of all for men is that you don't have to be a sportsman, professional or otherwise, to enjoy the benefits of Pilates. Joe Pilates developed his exercises for both men and women and around 25% of those attending Pilates classes today are men.
